Splurge Vs. Steal: Ms. Fabulosity's Picks of the Week!

Stuff is everywhere! More stuff out and about than anyone could ever use, try or sample. So, I thought I'd make it easy for you. Why am I giving you both the higher end and the lower end you ask? Simple. I figure that if you save enough on all of the steals and deals I give you every day, you should be able to treat yourself from time to time, right? {Insert nodding head here}. See? I knew you'd agree with me. ;-)

This week's picks are all about pampering your sweet, little toesies. Yes, this week is all about the feet. Splurge: Diamancel's luxurious line of foot buffers are a footsie must-have. An industrial-strength, furiously fast-acting foot file that takes care of thick, dry, and cracked callus buildup. Fabulous! My personal pick: The Bliss #20 Conquerer. $38, various websites.

Steal: The PedEgg is an As-Seen-on-TV item that actually lives up to the hype. The Ped Egg has over 100 precision microfiles that remove the calluses and dead skin from your feet, leaving you with silky smooth skin. It's tiny, travel-friendly, mess-proof and CHEAP!!! What more could you want? $10 (buy one, get one free online), various stores and online.

I can see you tap dancing from here. Enjoy your happy feet!

Culture Alert: This Weekend, There's Nothing Wrong With Being a Peeping Thomasina...

New York is a big dang place. So big, in fact, that even Ms. Fabulosity can't get to it all. But what I can do, and DO do, is to look up. The architecture here is AMAZING! New York City is just beautiful, if you look at it the right way (by that I mean with your eyes open!). Where am I going with this? All over New York, babycakes!

Event Description:

openhousenewyork (OHNY) will present the 7th Annual openhousenewyork Weekend, October 10th and 11th. OHNY provides free access to sites that showcase New York City's rich architectural, design, engineering and cultural heritage. This year’s diverse selection ranges from the historic to the cutting edge.

Among the participating sites are tours of the legendary Apollo Theater, the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel—the world's oldest subway tunnel, the newly opened High Line and, rising above it, the Standard Hotel.

Perennial favorite sites and programs will once again be opening their doors to the public: Alice Austen House, Angels and Accordions at The Green-Wood Cemetery, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Ellis Island's South Side and Ferry Building tours, the Grand Lodge of Masons, High Bridge Water Tower, Murray's Cheese, the Noguchi Museum, the Paul Rudolph Foundation/Modulightor Building, Radio City Music Hall, Queens Botanical Garden, Tom Otterness Studio, and Seven World Trade Center.

This is an event for the born and bred and transplants alike. See New York City from the inside out. Get up, get out and take a bite of our lovely, yummy Apple! See website for more details.

Baby, It's Cold Outside! Let Me Warm You Up... *wink*wink*

Okay. I have to admit. I have been in denial. I have lived in New York City my whole life and know the weather like the back of my hand and yet, I can't seem to wrap my brain around the fact that summer is over and fall has begun. Well, if you are like me and need an Autumnal jumpstart, head over the the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Thrift Shop for a boost. FYI: This ain't your Mama's thrift shop.

This elegant shop is more boutique than thrift store and this weekend they are is hosting a fall luxury-coat sale. Hundreds of coats, jackets, capes, and accessories starting at just $65! Designer minks are $1,800. If you're gonna get warm, this is the way to do it! Do we love this or what?! Happy hunting. 1440 Third Ave., nr. 81st St. (212-535-1250); F (10–5:30), S (11–5).

Get a Little Culture Under Your Belt! Lincoln Center, Anyone?

Okay, so my rest lasted a little longer than a day. What can I say? I guess I overslept. How can I make it up to you? How about I lull you into forgiveness with the soothing sounds of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center? I can be forgiven for my absence and you can become a little more couth. Win-win, no?

Here's the deal courtesy of Groupon.com:

Enjoy the sweet strains of the CMS well into next year: $55 gets you three concerts of your choice presented by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (a $120 value). The accomplished artists of CMS range from the most recognized musicians in the world to gifted, emerging young stars. CMS presents chamber music of every instrumentation, style, historical period, and height in its extensive concert season, and today's deal allows you to sample a few.

CMS performances take place in the newly re-opened Alice Tully Hall, which was closed for nearly two years for renovations. Acoustics in the magnificently renovated space are pristine and rich, and carry the intimacy of chamber music—be it a piano sonata for four hands or string quartet for eight hands—to each seat with warmth and clarity. Anthony Tommasini of the New York Times says the 1,087-seat hall is "the most remarkable achievement of the renovation is that the Starr Theater, though not any smaller, now feels intimate and warm." This rare deal gives you the chance to hear some of the world's finest musicians perform in this beautiful new space again and again.

How fantastic is that?! But you have to hurry! This deal expires at midnight. So, now all is forgiven, right? Thanks, I love you, too! Enjoy the concerts and I'll see you tomorrow!

Eat/Shop/Drink/Indulge:: All on the Cheap!

Four day weekend: Four ideas to have a kick-ass mini-holiday in our kick-ass city! Live it up, people!

Eat: If you can't finagle your way into your neighbor's barbecue, the next best thing is a fabulous burger and an ice cold beer. That said make your way into Soho to Shortys.32 for their signature sliders and a beer of the bartender's choosing. These yummy burgers are made with ground short ribs, giving them a richer flavor than most ordinary hamburgers. Couple that with a charred-to-perfection sesame seed brioche from Tom Cat Bakery, and it's easy to see why it’s a hit. And what will this tasty morsel and a icy cold sudsy cost you? Just $12!!! What a bargain, especially when you consider that the burger alone costs $16. YUM! Shorty's.32, 199 Prince Street, 212.375.8275.

Shop: Shopping is great, but shopping for a cause is better. After you meet your friends for brunch, why not stop by the Hog Pit for a little accessorizing. Stock up on accessories and support breast-cancer research at the Hog Pit's jewelry trunk show, featuring discounted designs from Elizabeth Warner's Maasai collection, as well as silver, gold, and gemstone pieces from Laura Mady. Part of the proceeds will go to the Breast Center at St. Vincent's Comprehensive Cancer Center. Sweet! The Hog Pit, 37 W. 26th St., nr. Sixth Ave. (212-604-0092); 12:30–8.

Drink: You'll want to kiss me after this one. It'll be all you can do to contain yourself, watch. Agozar is having a Recession Special every Friday and Saturday night, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.: All-You-Can-Drink Sangria! All-You-Can-Drink Drafts! All-You-Can-Drink Mojitos! Just $20 per person!!! I tell you the truth. I never lie. Just go to the Agozar page on Citysearch and print out your All-You-Can-Drink coupon (be careful though, there are two. Print the one for 10 p.m. - 2 a.m). P.S. While you're there, grab a bite. Agozar is a full-fledged restaurant. Agozar, 324 Bowery @ Bleecker Street, 347.223.5169.

Indulge: Meander over to Queens for a little free luxury (and isn't that the best kind?) this weekend. Stop by the launch party for new Atina Aqua Mineral product line at Rani Spas. Founder Dr. Rani Thukral will give free consultations, and the store is offering free use of spa services, including massages and waxes, in addition to complimentary refreshments. Seriously? What more can you ask for? I am ooohhhing and aaahhhing as we speak... ;-) Rani Spas, 64-11 108th St., Forest Hills (718-830-0100); 4:30–8:30.
