Let's Do Lunch! For WAYYY Less!

New York is nothing without it's food. Outside of Paris, there is no greater food destination than here. Looking at the Zagat guide you see a veritable who's who of celebrity chefs from Jean George to Daniel Boloud to Wylie Dufresne to anyone else you can possible think of. New York is arguably the dining capital of the world.

Now here is the deal: Eating at restaurants with Zagat ratings, Michelin stars and the like is costly! Outside of Restaurant Week (only two times a year, dontcha know!), finding fancy schmancy food is a challenge. Well, guess what? Do I have some treats for you!

Here is a list of way high-end dining experiences that are prix fixe (a.k.a CHEAP!) all year long! Put on your bib and take a gander. Prepare to let your mouth water... ;-) Enjoy!

Jean-Georges Vongerichten is the best there is. And he wants to share his goodness with you. That is why, this summer (and, I believe, all year long) he is offering an amazing $26 two course lunch at Jean Georges (in the Nougatine Room). Zagat says, Jean Georges is a “class act from start to finish”, Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Columbus Circle flagship “continues to dazzle” with “top-rung”, “ever-evolving” New French prix fixes that “simultaneously comfort and excite”. Simply delightful. Jean Georges, Trump Int'l Hotel, 1 Central Park West (bet. 60th & 61st Streets), 212.299.3900
(P.S. This deal is also on at these other JG restaurants: Matsugen, Perry St., JoJo, Mercer Kitchen and Vong)

David Chang is the ish. Bottom line. And Momofuku Ssam is, for sure, one of the most inventive incarnations of his imagination. That is why you should be uber-happy to know that Momofuku Ssam has a lovely little prix fixe lunch just waiting for you to nibble. For $25, you get a simply divine prix fixe lunch where you get to choose one of three different appetizers, one of three main courses, and one of two desserts. This is a steal and less than half of what it would normally cost. Trust me. Indulge yourself. Momofuku Ssam Bar,207 2nd Avenue (@13th Street). No phone.

Gotham Bar & Grill is heaven and Alfred Portale is a god. For over 25 years this New York staple has been a constant for all things belly-filling and fabulous in New American cuisine. So, how lucky are we that there is a beautiful little $31 prix fixe lunch sitting squarely in the middle of their totally awesome menu each and every day and all year long? Too fantastic for words. Gotham Bar and Grill, 12 E. 12th St. (bet. 5th Ave. & University Pl.), 212.620.4020.

Indian anyone? Tabla is the the standard in high-end Indian cuisine in New York City. And now, with a gorgeous $24 Summer prix-fixe lunch menu, you get to see just how the other half lives. From food to atmosphere to service and back to food, Tabla will never disappoint. Tabla, 11 Madison Avenue (@ 25th Street), 212.889.0667.

Finally, let me round out our little lunch chat with a good steak. Yes, dammit, I said STEAK! We are headed to Del Frisco's for, arguably, some of the best steak in New York City. Doubt me? Well, with a $31 prix fixe Business Lunch, you can try it out and see if you can prove me wrong. Go 'head. I dare ya. Del Frisco's, 1221 Sixth Avenue (bet. 48th & 49th sts.), 212.575.5129.
